This evening our boys’ football team were back in action. After a week off, the boys were slow out of the blocks and struggled to keep possession when in attack. A slip in the Bellenden defence saw Alpha give us the lead, which was totally against the run of play.
With us now leading, the half time team talk was very different to what was expected. The second half started pretty much the same as the first, with Rico making some excellent saves to keep us in the lead. As the pressure piled on, Bellenden finally found a way past Rico to make it 1-1 with ten minutes left.
The boys started to look very tired but they found a way to add to more to our total as Alpha got his second goal of the game and Nazai squeezed in a rebound from one of Alpha’s shots. This seemed to give Bellenden the fight they needed as they grabbed one from the penalty spot. Another from a well finished free kick saw them draw level.
Tired legs in our defence struggled with the fast passing of the Bellenden front three players in the last few minutes, which saw us unfortunately let another two goals slip through.
A better start in the next few games will be required if the boys are to return to winning ways.
Team: Rico, Adejola, Kaiden, Ivan, Alpha, Nazai, Siffen.
