With one week until the LPESSN netball league starts our netball team were back in action this evening against Boutcher and Archbishop Sumner schools.
The first game against Boutcher was a very close game with both teams throwing everything in to the first half. As both teams pushed to take the lead it was Boutcher who struck first to take a 1-0 lead with six minutes left. Luckily for us, straight from the centre pass Jodie managed to find Kaiden, who then passed the pull to Ida, who had been left wide open, for her to make it 1-1.
As the clock ticked down it was Boutcher again who managed to open up our defence to make it 2-1. Unfortunately time was not on our side. Kaiden had one last effort at making it 2-2 but it fell just short.
In the second game against Archbishop Sumner the team seemed to find a new lease of life as we took charge of the game straight from the start. An excellent performance from Camille at goal attack saw her score her first points of the year to give us a 2-1 lead early on in the second half. This continued all the way to the final whistle as Adejola added another point to take his total to three in two games.
If the team can start the league campaign with the same sort of performances they should comfortably make the top four and definitely book their place at finals week.
Team: Adejola, Daniel, Kaiden, Tammy, Camille, Ayah, Ida, Jodie, Solange
