At Grange, we are committed to quality teaching of Art and Design in a manner which is engaging, creative and challenging! In order for pupils of all abilities to fulfil their potential we inspire to equip children with the knowledge and skills required to experiment and investigate. Through the children’s own art and design work, children are able to experience the world around them, real and imagined, and appreciate the styles of artists and crafts people from a variety of cultures.
We often work creatively with Art and Design using different areas in the curriculum to enhance the learning and teaching. For example, recently we have completed a Maths through Art Week. At Grange, we put on exhibitions for parents to see the children’s art work and have a range of local artists that come in to inspire different projects.
Art and Design provides children with a visual language through which they can express their personal ideas through a different media, in an individual manner and in a variety of forms both two and three dimensional. The children are taught skills through the media of drawing, painting, printing, collage and textiles, 3D work and the use of IT.
